COURSE OVERVIEW
A 4-Day Immersive Training for Yoga Teachers
This four-day immersive training is designed for yoga teachers who want to move beyond surface-level cueing and develop confidence, clarity, and skill in hands-on teaching.
If you’ve ever felt unsure how to work with different bodies, cautious around injury, or unclear about how to use touch in a way that feels both safe and effective, this training will give you the tools, understanding, and confidence to teach with greater authority.
Rooted in movement science, informed by over a decade of teaching yoga, and shaped by clinical experience in osteopathy, this course bridges the gap between theory and practice. It goes beyond techniques, helping you develop your clinical reasoning, refine your decision-making, and deepen your presence as a teacher.
Functional Anatomy for Yoga Teachers
Develop a deeper, embodied understanding of anatomy and biomechanics so you can observe bodies in motion and respond with clarity and precision.
The Language of Touch
Explore how different qualities of touch influence the nervous system, proprioception, and motor learning, and how to use touch as a tool for communication rather than correction.
Reading Bodies in Motion
Refine your ability to observe movement patterns and interpret what the body is expressing through posture, breath, and coordination.
Understanding Bio-Individuality
Explore how anatomical variation, injury history, and nervous system responses influence how each student experiences movement and touch.
Working with Injury & Limitation
Gain practical insight into common injuries and restrictions, and learn how to adapt your teaching and hands-on work to support a wide range of students.
Applying Intelligent Touch Across Any Pose
Move beyond memorising adjustments for specific postures. You’ll learn a clear framework and decision-making process that allows you to approach any pose, with any body, safely and effectively.
Safe and Effective Adjustments & Assists
Learn a wide range of hands-on approaches, including:
– Clear and effective verbal cueing
– Light touch and directional guidance
– Structural and positional adjustments
– Resisted techniques and MET-inspired work
– Stabilising and supportive assists
All techniques are taught with a strong emphasis on consent, safety, and adaptability for different bodies.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the training, you will:
- Have a deeper, embodied understanding of functional anatomy and biomechanics
- Be able to observe and interpret movement patterns with greater clarity
- Confidently apply a range of safe, effective hands-on assists and adjustments
- Adapt your approach across different bodies, abilities, and class settings
- Understand how touch can support nervous system regulation and learning
- Feel more grounded and intentional in your presence as a teacher
Most importantly, you’ll begin to see touch not as a way to “fix” students, but as a form of communication, collaboration, and support.
Course Breakdown
COURSE BREAKDOWN
Explore the day-by-day curriculum. This intensive training builds sequentially, moving from foundational biomechanics to nuanced therapeutic applications of touch.
SCROLL RIGHT
Foundations of Adjustments & Assists
We begin by exploring the foundations of hands-on work through a biomechanical lens.
You’ll learn how to observe more clearly, understand what you’re seeing, and begin applying touch with intention rather than habit. We’ll explore key postures, common movement patterns, and how to offer support that enhances rather than overrides a student’s experience.
This day is about building awareness and understanding the purpose behind your hands, moving away from generic, one-size-fits-all adjustments.
Application, Adaptation & Decision-Making
Day two deepens your understanding and expands your toolkit.
You’ll learn how to adapt adjustments for different bodies, abilities, and needs, as well as when not to adjust. We’ll explore how to layer your assists and make real-time decisions within a class environment.
We’ll also look at the nuance of touch, including communication, perception, and how to ensure your hands-on work feels safe, respectful, and appropriate. By the end of the day, you’ll feel more confident delivering hands-on teaching that is responsive, adaptable, and grounded in context.
Injury Management & Inclusive Teaching
On day three, we shift into injury management and inclusive practice.
You’ll be introduced to a clear, practical framework for working with pain, injury, and common conditions within a yoga setting. We’ll explore key areas such as the spine, shoulders, hips, and knees, focusing on the presentations you’re most likely to encounter.
Rather than relying on rigid contraindications, this day develops your reasoning, helping you adapt poses, offer meaningful modifications, and create a more inclusive experience for your students.
Therapeutic Touch & Nervous System Support
The final day focuses on therapeutic touch.
Here, the emphasis shifts from doing to sensing. You’ll explore how to offer grounding, calming, and supportive touch within practices such as yin, restorative, and savasana.
Drawing on principles from osteopathy and bodywork, we’ll look at how touch can support nervous system regulation, encourage relaxation, and deepen the overall experience for your students. This day is less about technique and more about quality, presence, and intention.
Across the Training
Throughout the four days, you will also deepen your understanding of anatomy, physiology, consent, and the evolving role of touch in modern yoga teaching.
This training is designed for teachers who want to feel confident working with real people, real bodies, and real complexity.
By the end of the course, you’ll leave with a clear, grounded, and practical approach to adjustments, assists, injury management, and therapeutic touch that will elevate your teaching.
