Although asana forms the foundation of yoga practice, integrating practical philosophy and chanting in to classes provides an opportunity to take students on a much deeper and more profound journey of discovery in their practice. This course is designed to help you integrate the transformative power of yoga philosophy and chanting into your classes, enriching both your teaching and your students’ experience. Through the sacred sounds of chanting and the timeless insights of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, you’ll learn practical ways to theme and weave ancient wisdom in to your classes as well as to have the confidence to offer chanting as part of your offering.
 
This course will offer:
  • Insights into selected teachings of the Yoga Sutras that can be brought on to the mat
  • How to theme and structure classes around philosophical concepts
  • Developing a philosophical theme over a series of classes
  • The fundamentals of sharing chanting practices in class
  • How to integrate chanting in to your classes in asana, breath work and meditation
  • How to deepen chanting practice using volume, interoception and nyasa/mudra
 
At the end of the course you will have be introduced to:
  • Key yoga philosophy concepts
  • How to bring them in to your classes
  • The fundamentals of sharing chanting
  • 2-3 mantras that can be used in a class context
You will also receive all materials presented on this day training as well as some template practices for you to share in your own classes.

The schedule for the day:
 
9am – 10.30am – Yoga Philosophy – key insights in to Yoga Sutras
10.30am – 10.45am – Tea Break
10.45am – 12.15pm – Yoga Philosophy – how to theme & structure classes
12.15pm to 1.15pm – Lunch
1.15pm – 2.45pm – Chanting – techniques for sharing mantras in class
2.45pm – 3.00pm – Tea break
3.00pm – 4.30pm – integrating mantra chanting in to asana and pranayama

4.30pm – 5.30pm – Integrated practice and Q&A session

Daryn Bio:

Daryn is a Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500) certified teacher with over 1,250 hours of training in the lineage of Sri T. Krishnamacharya. His journey with Yoga began in 2015, following a back injury that sparked a deep exploration of the practice’s transformative power. Drawn to the wisdom of ancient yogic texts, Daryn has dedicated himself to understanding how these teachings can be applied to modern life, uncovering Yoga’s ability to relieve suffering and bring about meaningful transformation.

Daryn has trained extensively in India with renowned teachers from the Krishnamacharya and Desikachar lineage, specializing in chanting and philosophy. His teaching emphasizes integrating these practices into Yoga classes, enabling students to experience the depth of Yoga beyond asana. Since 2018, Daryn has been teaching groups and individuals, and he is also a faculty member on YTT 200-hour courses, where he supports teachers in bringing chanting and philosophy into their offerings.
