COURSE OVERVIEW

One of the biggest challenges of teaching inversions is to ensure all of your students have something to do that is safe, right for their bodies, and helps them progress in their practice as only part of a sixty minute class! This weekend CPD questions what skill building in yoga looks like, how commonly taught methods may be holding us back, and how to offer a variety of inversion drills at the same time to ensure you’re meeting the needs of every student in your class. Joshua offers his insights to teaching methodology, anatomy and a healthy dose of play to help you support your students’ flight.

This course will help you:

Select and teach multi-level approaches to various inversions and arm balances based on students' zone of proximal development.

Sequence towards peak inversions and arm balances with emphasis on muscular activation and joint positioning.

Apply selected adjustments to inversions and arm balances to increase student confidence and autonomy.

Who is this training for?

This CPD is targeted towards beginning and mid-career yoga teachers and will include activities to begin practising the teaching skills offered in class. Practitioners who have a developed practice and interest in inversions will also be happily accommodated and will not be required to participate in teaching practice activities.

Upon leaving this course, you can

Upon completion of the course, students will have developed an increased knowledge of ways to progress and regress a variety of inversions and arm balances for their students. They will be able to recognise ‘next steps’ in their students’ bodies and offer them appropriate variations that will encourage their skill development.

Students will be able to articulate how the musculature of the arms and torso can support arm variations, and sequence their classes to prepare students’ bodies for inversion practice and wind down afterwards. Students will also leave with an increased confidence in ways to introduce inversions to a group, offer physical adjustments and develop and apply individualised verbal cues. Overall, students will have new skills to create safe, inclusive and student-centered inversion classes where no student is left behind.
